You don’t bring me flowers; you don’t sing me love songs.
You hardly talk to me anymore when you come through the door at the end of the day.
I remember when you couldn’t wait to love me, you used to hate to leave me.
Now after lovin’ me late at night when it’s good for you babe and you’re feelin’ all right,
Well, you just roll over and turn out the light and you don’t bring me flowers anymore.
It used to be so nat’ral to talk about forever, but used-to-be’s don’t count anymore.
They just lay on the floor till we sweep them away.
And baby, I remember all the things you taught me:
I learned how to laugh and I learned how to cry.
Well, I learned how to love, and I learned how to lie.
So you’d think I could learn how to tell you good-bye,
‘Cause you don’t bring me flowers anymore.
Well, you’d think I could learn how to tell you good-bye, you don’t say you need me,
And you don’t sing me love songs, you don’t bring me bring me flowers anymore.
1977 – Neil Diamond, Alan Bergman and Marilyn Bergman – Performed by Neil Diamond and Barbra Streisand – Song was released as an A-side single. The B-side was an instrumental of the song. The song originally was sung as a solo by Neil Diamond on his “I’m Glad You’re Here with Me Tonight” album and by Barbra Streisand on her “Songbird” album. Gary Guthrie, a Louisville, KY program director spliced the two solo tracks together creating the hit. CBS brought the two stars together to re-record the song.
